The Delaware beaches have a classic Mid-Atlantic season, packed in summer and lovely in the shoulders, and the tax-free shopping never closes. Here is the calendar.

Summer (mid-June to August)

Peak: warm water, a packed boardwalk, and the highest rates. Weekends in July are the busiest stretch of the year, so book early and arrive off-peak if you can.

Shoulder (May and September)

The best value on the coast. Warm enough to swim by late May and still warm in September, with a fraction of the crowds and noticeably lower rates.

Off-season (October to April)

Mild to cold and cheap, with the tax-free outlets drawing shoppers even in winter and the Sea Witch Festival lighting up Rehoboth in late October. Pair with our booking calendar and the Delaware beach rentals.

The rest of the trip

After the rental, the rest.

A flight in, a rental car for dune drives, a boutique hotel for the last night before the airport. The pieces that complete a coastal week.
